Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude are environmental artists. Their purpose for creating the art they create is to beautify landscapes and to cause people to view their environment in new ways. They work on temporary installations of a rather large scale. They say that they create for no one but themselves, but the beauty of their art is that it affects every person who walks by.
