Gerard Richter- Sasha

One looks at Gerard Richter's work, unsure as to how he makes a painting look so much like a photo. He takes a photo and projects it onto a canvas. He then traces the images, and paints the exact colors being projected. He adds this "blur" technique in order to make the painting look like an old photograph. He also chooses to paint very abstract paintings, contrary to his realistic ones. In his abstract pieces, he scrapes paint away but still applies that same "blur" technique.
