I was reading the wikipedia article on Andy Warhol and came across this quote of his, "I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're so beautiful. Everything's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic." He truly loved celebrities (including Marilyn Monroe) and consumer culture, and portrayed that in much of his work. I particularly like his works of the Campbell's Soup cans. He was very clever and took this common, everyday object and made it a work of "art." He was exploring the question of "what is art," just like we are doing in class.
