The contemporary artist I chose is Francesco Clemente, who is an Italian painter now living in NYC. I knew and liked his artwork even before I found out I coincidentally knew his two kids!
His paintings, as can be seen above, contain elements of both surrealism and expressionism. He uses soft colors and widely explores the practices of life that are important to other people beyond himself.
I believe that I am personally drawn to him because my own artistic designs are similar, although on an infinitely lower level of skill and thought, to his work.
I am wondering whether to dwell on one's favorite artists instead of trying to explore new things is a good or bad thing. I'm yet to find out more!
