Paolo Uccello by Sasha

This is "Niccolo Mauruzi da Tolentino at the Battle of San Romano" by Paulo Uccello. In this painting, strong diagonals are present, as the weapons all point in different directions, causing the eye to move from one side of the painting to the other. He also chooses to put the most action in the foreground, and it's only until we notice Niccolo Mauruzi da Tolentino's sword, which leads our eyes to the few figures in the background. Uccello also chooses to use duller colors in the background to make the foreground stand out. On the ground, we see the broken lances, which almost act as a grid for the perfect perspective.
