I believe that art is about intentionality. I think it's a form of expression in which the artist is both completely in control and out of control of his or her decisions, resulting in an emotional outpour through the end result. I chose a painting by Alex Kanevsky. When he paints a piece, he makes many layers. He sketches a quick gesture, then erases it and starts all over again. He keeps doing this until he ends up with an outcome he is mostly satisfied with. Every single brush stroke is intentional. The gestural brush strokes and usage of space on the canvas leave me inspired.
