Kristen - Contemporary Art

I chose to post a work by Loren Munk because I was intrigued by this excerpt on wikipedia: "Most recently, Munk has been producing a series of paintings which tackle the subject of art itself through a historical and diagrammatic lens." This is exactly what we have been talking about in class, the question of "what is art," so I found this to be very appropriate.

The piece that I have chosen to post is called "Beautiful, Gorgeous, Exquisite." I definitely think Munk is exploring the concept of art itself in this painting, and specifically the things that he finds beautiful, gorgeous, and exquisite. These three adjectives are highly subjective, just like the concept of art in general.
