Erika-Contemporary Art




These black paintings are by Ad Reinhardt, earlier he made abstract paintings that were more colorful but he is most remembered for his large black canvases. What I think is most interesting about them is that initially you see just black, but looking closer you see the black is made of blues and reds (it reminds me of something I also heard in art, never paint a black solidly black). I think Reinhardt was trying to keep art simple and prevent people for making it more than what it ought to be.
